Drug & Alcohol Policy
We take the responsibility of ensuring the health and safety of our staff, clients and workers seriously.

1. Scope
This policy applies to anyone performing work for Envision Labour Hire Limited (Envision Labour Hire”) (You/employees/workers)
2. Purpose
We take our responsibilities regarding health and safety very seriously. It is important to us that we do what we can to ensure that everyone who comes to work for us gets home safely each day, and that we do not create risks to others.
This policy sets out our commitment to a safe workplace and serves as the guiding principles for how we can work together to make this happen.
3. Contravening this policy
Breaches of health and safety legislation can have serious consequences for Envision Labour Hire and the people involved. A failure to comply with health and safety requirements or this policy may result in disciplinary action being taken, up to and including termination of employment or engagement as relevant.
4. Health and Safety
Envision Labour Hire is committed to complying with its obligations under health and safety legislation to provide a healthy and safe workplace for its employees, contractors and visitors to its workplace and when working offsite, protecting its employees from injury and illness and promoting their welfare.
Envision Labour Hire will take reasonable steps to identify, control, protect against and eliminate risks to the health, welfare and safety of its employees, contractors and visitors. Envision Labour Hire will provide information and training to its employees from time to time as part of its commitment to providing a healthy and safe workplace.
Staff are responsible for the health, welfare and safety of themselves and staff and visitors to Envision Labour Hire’s workplace. Supervisors and managers are accountable for the health and safety of employees who report to them.
Obligations of Envision Labour Hire
Envision Labour Hire is required to eliminate or minimise, so far as is reasonably practicable, risks to health and safety in workplace.
Envision Labour Hire intends to protect its staff from and against injury and illness and promote their welfare by:
- appointing a Workplace Health and Safety Officer who will be responsible for ensuring that Envision Labour Hire complies with its obligations under workplace health and safety legislation;
- providing and maintaining its workplaces in a healthy and safe condition;
- providing and maintaining systems of work and a working environment that is healthy and safe;
- providing the information, training, instruction and supervision necessary to maintain a healthy and safe workplace;
- providing adequate facilities for the welfare of workers;
- monitoring the workplace and the health and safety of workers to assist in preventing illness or injury;
- acquiring and keeping up-to-date knowledge of WHS matters;
- ensuring that all workers have available for use or uses, appropriate resources and processes to eliminate or minimise risks to health and safety from work; and
- ensuring that there are appropriate processes in place for receiving and considering information regarding incidents, hazards and risks.
Obligations of our Clients
To ensure that you receive an on-site Health & Safety Induction that you understand Conduct First Day Induction. Every new job/site requires a First Day Induction.
The on-site induction you should receive as a minimum:
- Who my supervisor/site manager is
- Your key jobs and responsibilities
- Bathroom and lunch room facilities and break/meal times
- What hazards are on-site
- How to identify and report hazards
- Know of any restricted areas
- Who First Aiders and Fire Wardens are
- Correct wear and use of any Personal Protective Equipment
- Where emergency exits and emergency evacuation assembly area is
- Where the first aid kit is kept
Obligations of Workers
As a worker, you are required to:
- familiarise yourself with the safety procedures set out in this WHS Policy and any others that may be advised by Envision Labour Hire;
- take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and others who may be affected by your acts or omissions in the workplace;
- co-operate with management of Envision Labour Hire and Our Client’s to ensure all health and safety obligations are complied with, and not refuse any reasonable requests to give or receive aid in respect of any illness or injury or the doing of any act or thing to avoid or prevent a serious risk to health and safety of a person at work;
- use all work equipment and furniture in an appropriate manner and in accordance with any instruction/operating manuals;
- organise their working environment in a manner which does not pose a risk to their own or their colleagues or any other persons’ health and safety;
- actively identify and report any hazards or risks to health and safety in their work environment as soon as practicable;
- immediately report any incident, injuries, work-related illness or “near miss” at the workplace and co-operate by providing Envision Labour Hire and their Clients with any information in relation to such incident, injuries, illness or near miss;
- ensure all health and safety equipment is used correctly and refrain from wilfully or recklessly interfering with equipment or safety measures so as to create a workplace hazard (including not participating in potentially harmful pranks);
- use and maintaining the required Personal Protective Equipment;
- rectify minor health and safety issues where authorised and safe to do so;
- co-operate with any health and safety initiative, inspection or investigation; and
- actively participate in any return to work program (where applicable).
5. Consultation
Consultation between Envision Labour Hire and workers is an essential part of effectively managing health and safety in the workplace, as it enables its employees to contribute to the making of decisions affecting their health and safety at work. Worker’s involvement at all levels is imperative for ensuring the safety at workplace.
Envision Labour Hire will, so far as is reasonably practicable, consult with its workers who are, or are likely to be, directly affected by matters relating to WHS, including:
- when identifying hazards and assessing risks to health and safety arising from the work carried out or to be carried out;
- when making decisions about ways to eliminate or minimise those risks;
- when making decisions about the adequacy of facilities for the welfare of workers;
- when proposing changes that may affect the health or safety of workers;
- when making decisions about the procedures for:
- consulting with workers; or
- resolving work health or safety issues at the workplace;
- monitoring the health of workers;
- monitoring the conditions at any workplace under the management or control of Envision Labour Hire’s Client’s; or
- providing information and training for workers.
Envision Labour Hire will ensure:
- the sharing of relevant information about WHS matters with its workers;
- that the workers be given the opportunity to contribute, express their views or raise any issues or concerns in relation to any WHS; and
- that the workers’ views are valued and taken into account.
6. Alcohol and Drugs
Envision Labour Hire’s policy is to ensure our workplace and our Client’s workplace is free of alcohol and drugs and complies with laws governing controlled substances. This is to ensure that any Envision worker is not impaired in their ability to perform their work in a safe and healthy manner whilst working for Envision or our Client’s.
Consuming alcohol at work, including during work events is prohibited unless advised by your manager. Staff may not be under the influence of alcohol during work hours or on Envision Labour Hire premises or our Client’s premises.
If you are taking prescription medicine that could impact your ability to perform your role safely (including medicine that can cause drowsiness), it is important you advise your manager of this so that adjustments can be made, if necessary. You will only need to disclose information regarding your medicine to the extent it is relevant to you being able to perform your role safely.
Presenting for work while impaired by alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden and can result in disciplinary action. If Envision Labour Hire or our Client’s suspect that you are impaired or under the influence of drugs or alcohol, we may require you to take a drug and alcohol test. Any refusal to take a test in this circumstance will be treated as though the test had been positive. Presenting to work impaired by or under the influence of drugs or alcohol is considered serious misconduct and can result in disciplinary action, up to and including summary dismissal.
